Lecture “Case Studies of Microclimate Ethnography”, in the frame of the seminar “Sustainable Design: Methods and Tools,”invited by Prof. Muck Petzet, Accademia di architettura, Università della Svizzera italiana, April 11, 2018
AUTHOR: Sascha Roesler
In the very centre of my presentation today is the concept of the microclimate showing its relevance for ethnographic research conducted by architects. Microclimates—this is my central thesis—condense phenomena which grant us a close look at the material culture, social conditions, and political aspirations of energy-based societies; in other words, microclimates are far more than physical-thermodynamic phenomena. There are cultural and social artifacts.
