AUTHOR: Sascha Roesler, Lionel Epiney, Dalila Ghodbane, Madlen Kobi
CONTEXT: Team Workshop, Academy of Architecture, Mendrisio, 18.6.2018
KEYWORDS: climate control, architecture, ethnographic fieldwork, Cairo, Chongqing, Santiago de Chile
In this workshop, all team members presented selected findings from their ethnographic fieldwork in Cairo, Chongqing and Santiago de Chile. By foregrounding one particular architectural case study, team members reflected on the mutual reactions between the control of climate, the built environment and the city climate. The discussion revolved around comparing present and future best practices of climate control in these particular cities. Furthermore, aspects such as the interaction of the different forms of thermal practices and thermal knowledge claimed by architects, inhabitants and constructors were addressed.
