AUTHOR: Dalila Ghodbane
CONTEXT: Lecture at Geneva University of Arts and Design (HEAD), Master students’ LabZone, by Sonia Kacem, October 13, 2020
In the framework of a seminar called LabZone, this contribution is based on the collaboration between the artist Sonia Kacem and Dalila Ghodbane's work on the thermal environment of ordinary houses in Cairo. The warmth of the ambient air, like the colour of a carpet, appears meaningful only to the interested observer. In that regard, there are many parallels between the experience of climate and that of colour. Sonia and Dalila explored some of those paralells through examples from Cairo, questioning the selectiveness of our attention and its effects on our work.
