Wicked Problems in Architecture – Urban Climate as Case Study

Architecture and its theory are increasingly challenged by new types of complex problems, which might be termed, following a notion of Horst Rittel and Melvin Webber, as “wicked” ones. Referring to the chair’s current research project, exploring design-based approaches to urban climates, different aspects of wicked problems shall be discussed and some implications for a contemporary architectural theory addressed.
